A “Stories of the Supernatural” Tale
Nate is a math professor at a college. Well, not so much much a professor as a teacher. And not so much a college as a community college. Still, he gets to do what he loves. Which is to earn enough money to live. Who doesn’t love that?
His teaching assistant Rachel is gem in the relative obscurity of Building M, where all the misfit departments of the community college are housed. Rachael is pretty and nice and generally makes teaching obscure match disciplines fun for Nate.
After returning from jury duty, he finds the college a bit different than he remembered. A new Japanese teacher is teaching students. Rachael has dropped weight and is dressing like an idol. The sewing department is selling lolita goth outfits. The school cafe has cat-eared waitresses.
But things change, and Nate doesn’t really worry too much about it. The real problem comes when he realizes that his students are failing his class at an alarming rate. They all seem to be forgetting the lessons he’s been teaching them all term. Now they act like high school students and are dressing alike, as if they felt more comfortable wearing uniforms.
So Nate decides to go undercover as one of the students to see what is going on in the one successful class in Building M, the one taught by the new Japanese teacher. His first mistake is to go undercover as a teenage girl. His second mistake was not noticing his entire school was turning into a district of Tokyo.
…And his third mistake is beyond anyone’s understanding.
